Ticket Deleter App

Documentation

Overview

Are you also struggling to delete Solved and Closed tickets to reduce your storage on Zendesk and comply with your local ticket deletion policy? To comply with regulation, companies are required to remove ticket data that is no longer needed. Manually deleting them would take multiple weeks for almost every company - and that every month! The Ticket Deleter app will help you do this quickly with a few clicks.

Benefits of using Ticket Deleter App: * Comply with GDPR regulation on deleting old ticket data without busting your budget * Save costs on ticket storage on Zendesk.

How It Works

Using the Ticket Deleter app is super easy - here's how it works:

  • 🗑️ Filter tickets by status (e.g. Solved and Closed Tickets), date range and tags that you want to delete
  • 💡 By default, the app will perform a soft delete on selected tickets. Once tickets are soft-deleted, you have a 30-day window to restore if they were accidentally deleted. After 30 days the soft-deleted tickets will automatically be deleted permanently.
  • 🔥 New permanent delete feature. This setting will empower users to permanently delete tickets without the need to wait for the 30-day period.
  • ❗️ (NEW) A more CUSTOMIZED tag filtering. You can now filter using compound tags. Use ! to negate a tag when searching for tickets.

Features

  • Deletes tickets that were Solved and/or Closed in the period you define
  • Filter tickets based on date and tags
  • Saves you hours every month by deleting old tickets quickly, ensuring you stay GDPR compliant
  • Installation & setup within 1 minute or less

We have developed the Ticket Deleter app for our own customer support as we had over 5000 old closed tickets that were subject to be deleted. For the first few hundred, we tried to delete them manually, but it took hours and hours. Moreover, knowing that we have to constantly do that every month already caused us a headache. Hence, we decided to create an app to help with the deletion, ensuring GDPR compliance in the process.

User Guide

The Ticket Deleter app is one of many Datafox Labs apps for Zendesk. Here you'll learn the basics of how the app can help you tackle use cases like GDPR, deletion policy and much more.

First, launch the Ticket Deleter app in the sidebar.

You can filter tickets for deletion by status, creation or update date, tags, or subject. Use compound tags to refine your search, and ! to negate a tag when filtering tickets.

Follow the steps to filter tickets you want to delete. Once done, fetch the tickets and select the tickets you want to delete and confirm.

By default, the app performs a soft delete on selected tickets, giving you a 30-day window to restore accidentally deleted items. After 30 days, soft-deleted tickets are permanently deleted. Alternatively, you can choose to delete tickets permanently right away by selecting the option.

Done! It's that simple!
